Some Model 3 variants lose full US tax credit

In the middle of last week, it became known that buyers of Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and Long Range (LR) cars in the United States will lose the full tax credit of $7,500 starting January 1, 2024. Electric vehicles in the US have to meet certain requirements related to the origin of the car and its battery, as well as the sources of materials. Last month, the Treasury Department unveiled new rules for tax credits that say that starting next year, “an eligible clean vehicle must not incorporate battery components manufactured or assembled by a Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC).” Since then, Tesla has updated the tax incentive information on its website.

Tesla unveils Optimus Gen 2

Tesla has made huge progress in developing its bipedal robot Optimus. Tesla received permits to build Giga Mexico

The Mexican state of Nuevo León is actively promoting the start of construction of a new Tesla factory. The local government allocated $153 million in incentives to build the infrastructure requested by the company. This includes water supply, electricity supply, and roads, among other things.

In addition, Mexico's Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) informed that the necessary permits to obtain final approval from the federal government have been granted. This means that Tesla can officially begin construction of the factory. However, the actual start date for construction remains unknown.

The union strike against Tesla in Sweden continues. Although the vast majority of the company's employees are not in favor, the strike continues to receive support from unions from other Scandinavian countries. Tesla NACS recognition

The White House has supported the auto industry's efforts to standardize Tesla electric vehicle charging connectors for all electric vehicles in the United States. On Tuesday, SAE International confirmed Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector, designed by the Texas manufacturer, as the new standard.

Volkswagen Group also announced Tuesday that Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, and Scout Motors will adopt NACS in its future electric vehicles in the North American region starting in 2025. Volkswagen Group was the last major company to join the alliance. Widespread adoption of NACS will accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and further expand Tesla's influence.
