Tesla is poised for further growth. The company is preparing to present an affordable new-gen car model and announce investments in India, where its production is expected to begin. Welcome to Jowua's weekly roundup of Tesla news.
Tesla begins development in India
Last week, Indian media reported that Tesla had begun ramping up efforts to enter the country's market. Giga Berlin has begun test production of right-hand drive Model Ys for India, which has been confirmed by Jowua's sources at the factory. Tesla hopes to have the cars on Indian roads this year.
Additionally, Tesla is expected to send a team to India in April to scout potential locations for the factory. The company is considering Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Haryana. All places have established supply chains, and some have access to the sea, which will be very beneficial for Tesla.
Elon Musk has confirmed that he will travel to India to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Tesla CEO is expected to make an announcement on investment in the country during his visit.
FSD became transferable again
Tesla is increasingly accommodating to customers and has again made it possible to transfer Full Self-Driving (FSD) capability to a new car. This means that Tesla owners in the US and Canada who already have FSD will be able to use the feature on a new car. This applies to the new Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X. At this time, the exact end date for this offering is unknown, but it will only be active for a limited time.
Tesla will unveil a new generation car model in August
Last week, Reuters circulated a false report that Tesla was ending its program to develop and release a new generation, $25,000 car model. However, Musk was quick to deny this report, saying that the report was false. In addition, he announced the presentation date of the new model. According to him, this will take place on August 8, 2024.
Tesla FSD has surpassed 1 billion miles driven
Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) has reached a major milestone: users have driven more than 1 billion miles with FSD activated. The new software testing program started at the end of 2020 and was deployed only to a limited number of testers. Reaching new development milestones, the program expanded until it was widely rolled out to all Tesla vehicle owners in the United States.
