Tesla Dojo in Production Accelerating Robotaxi Arrival

The past week has been full of news in the Tesla universe. Dojo is already in production accelerating the development of the FSD technology that will be equipped on all Robotaxis. Optimus robot is progressing in development, the Semi program is expanding, and much more in today's review from Jowua.

Semi truck is being tested by new companies

Tesla began delivering its electric truck in late 2022. Its first and only customer to receive delivery was Pepsi Co. Last month it became known about a partnership with Martin Brower. However, there now appear to be signs that Semi program is being expanded to other companies. The electric truck has been spotted in use by giants Walmart, Costco, Sysco, and US Foods. This observation means that Semi's production continues to ramp up and as time goes on, more companies will get their eco-friendly trucks to reduce the carbon footprint of heavy haulage.

Optimus is evolving

Tesla has again shared a video of its robot, demonstrating the latest developments in Optimus. The video clip shows how the robot loads battery cells into a tray. In another part of the video, Optimus moves around the office, demonstrating its increased range and maneuverability in space. It is believed that Tesla is already using several robots in its factories for testing.

Model Y updates in the USA

Tesla has released a new base variant of the Model Y in the US. Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, replaces the entry-level Model Y RWD. The new variant offers a range of approximately 320 miles. Additionally, Tesla has officially added Quicksilver as a paint option for Model Y in the US. Now, customers can order a car in the new color on an individual basis.

Dojo tiles are in production

As Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC) recently confirmed, Tesla's next-generation Dojo training tiles are already in production. Last year, Tesla was going to buy about 5,000 D1 chips from TSMC, produced using its own design. In 2024, it intended to double this number to 10,000 chips, and also continue to increase purchases in 2025.

FSD will be tested in China

Tesla has achieved a breakthrough in the distribution of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology. Expanding cooperation with Baidu has opened up the possibility of testing it in China. According to sources, following Elon Musk's recent visit to the country, the Chinese government offered partial support for the deployment of the technology. Officials told Musk that the country “welcomes Tesla to do some robotaxi tests in the country” and hopes it will “set a good example.”
