Tesla Launches FSD, Delivers New Model Y in China

FSD Enters China

After months of working with regulators in China, Tesla has finally launched FSD (Full Self-Driving) in the country. The company began a gradual rollout of the technology earlier this week. FSD is enabled with software update 2024.45.32.12 for owners who purchased FSD directly. The update introduces urban road Autopilot assistance, which is an FSD-based driver assistance system for Tesla owners in China. At this point, it remains unclear whether this feature differs from the FSD that operates in the US. Based on the available description, both have the same features and differ only in name.

FSD in China is trained on its own data set, as the country did not want Tesla to use data from other countries to train its system. This, in turn, may lead to some differences from what we may see in North America. At the moment, Europe is the only region where the company operates and has not yet been able to reach an agreement with regulators on the deployment of FSD.

Tesla begins deliveries of the updated Model Y in China

This week, Tesla officially began deliveries of the new Model Y in China. They were expected to begin in March, meaning the company is ahead of schedule. This shows that the ramp-up of production of the updated car is going very well.

Model Y is offered in a special Launch Edition version, which can be configured with all available options at no extra cost. In addition, the base price of $59,990 also includes FSD.

Tesla Sales in Europe Fall in January

While Tesla's Chinese market continues to grow, the situation in Europe has worsened. In the first month of 2025, the company's car sales fell by 45% in the region. Tesla registered 9,945 new cars in Europe in January, down from 18,161 units in the same period last year, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association. At the moment, it is believed that this was due to production adjustments at Giga Berlin, along with growing discontent with the political stance of Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Tesla expands business in Germany

Tesla has agreed to acquire key assets and personnel from Manz AG, a German automation systems supplier. The deal will strengthen Tesla's capabilities in Europe and will continue to provide about 200 out of the 300 jobs at the insolvent company.
