Tesla Adapts to the Market, Satisfying its Customers

The updated Model Y will not appear this year

Tesla said in an internal email to employees that it will not launch the updated Model Y this year. The company said now is not the best time for its US customers to launch a new product. Currently, Model Y has access to a tax credit under the IRA. The updated car is expected to have a higher price tag, so may not be as attractive to buy now, given the economic climate. Earlier, Reuters reported that the company was preparing to begin production of the updated Model Y at Giga Shanghai in mid-2024, citing a source within the company. 

Giga Berlin has resumed full production

After two weeks of partial shutdown, Tesla's German factory resumed operations. The factory has fully ramped up production since the night shift on Sunday. Tesla noted that all necessary production parts are again available in sufficient quantities. According to an update last week, Giga Berlin is now producing 6,000 vehicles per week.

Stellantis adopts Tesla's NACS

The last remaining major automaker, Stellantis, has finally announced that it is adopting Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS). The transition will begin in 2025 when Stellantis EV owners will be provided with an NACS adapter. In 2026, the manufacturer will add an NACS charging port for select battery electric vehicles. This means that Stellantis EV owners in North America will have access to a charging network of more than 15,000 Superchargers.

Tesla seeks to build the largest 164-stall Supercharger station in the world

Tesla plans to build a 164-stall Supercharger site in California, according to plans filed with Kern County. It will be located on a vacant lot on Highway 46, northwest of Bakersfield, along the I-5 corridor. 16 of the 164 stalls will be specifically for larger vehicles, or vehicles with trailers. All stalls will be covered with a solar panel canopy to provide clean energy charging.

Cybertruck on tour in Asia

The electric pickup truck continues its tour of China. Currently, eight Cybertrucks are represented in eight major Chinese cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Xi'an, Chengdu, and Chongqing. However, the steel beast will soon visit Japan and possibly South Korea. According to information from Tesla, Cybertruck will soon arrive in Japan. However, no more details are provided on this. In addition, sources in South Korea said that the pickup truck will arrive in the country next week for demonstration.
