Tesla cars are recognized as the most popular EVs in the UK
In most countries around the world, Tesla is the best-selling car in the electric vehicle (EV) market, which includes not only battery-powered cars but also hybrid ones. The UK's confused.com analyzed data on electric vehicle registrations in the country over the past five years. Their report lists the 10 most popular EV models and Tesla cars topped the list. Although Tesla Model Y entered the UK market later, it received the love of local consumers and took first place. Model 3 follows in second place.
Tesla expands ADAS trials in Europe
Tesla's autonomous driving technology is what fundamentally differentiates and sets its vehicles apart from those of other manufacturers. In North America, FSD (Full Self Driving) testing is in a very active phase, while it is more difficult to do in other markets. However, Tesla is actively working to improve the technology and make it available to its customers around the globe.
Last week, the company published a new job in Europe. Tesla is looking for an ADAS test operator in Tarragona, Spain. This move shows that the manufacturer is actively expanding the team to improve its vehicles and the ownership experience. Earlier this year, Tesla opened several positions by inviting ADAS test operators to Zurich (Switzerland), Copenhagen (Denmark), Helsinki (Finland), and Barcelona (Spain).
Launch of Tesla Megafactory in China
Late last week, Tesla officially launched its Megafactory project in Shanghai, China. This happened during the ceremony of acquiring the land and signing the contract. The manufacturer called the event the official start of the “milestone project.” The Shanghai factory will be capable of producing 10,000 Megapack batteries per year, equal to about 40 GWh of energy storage. The batteries produced at this facility are expected to be sold globally.
Analyst expectations for Tesla's performance in 2023
Although 2023 was a challenging year for the global economy, Tesla maintained its goal of delivering about 1.8 million vehicles this year. Q4 is almost over and analysts have voiced their expectations.
Tesla could report 473,000 units delivered in the fourth quarter, according to 14 analysts surveyed by LSEG. This also means they are expecting to deliver about 1.82 million vehicles worldwide for the year. It is worth noting that analysts polled by Visible Alpha forecast that Tesla will deliver 2.2 million units in 2024.
Tesla is preparing an updated Model Y
Rumors about “Project Juniper,”within the framework of which changes will be made to Model Y, appeared several months ago. Tesla remains silent about this, which is not surprising. Despite this, new information obtained by Bloomberg indicates that preparations are ongoing. According to sources, production of the updated Model Y may begin in mid-2024. The updated model will undergo both external and internal changes. Production will begin at the second stage of the Tesla factory in Shanghai.
FSD Beta v12.1 is being deployed to 15,000+ vehicles
Tesla continues to improve its new version of FSD Beta, powered by AI. Based on deployment observations, more than 15,000 vehicles have received v12.1. All these cars are personal vehicles of the company's employees. This means that at the moment, the new version is not being rolled out to the company's customers. As Elon Musk noted, it is undergoing additional testing before wider deployment begins.
Launch of Tesla in India
Tesla's negotiations to enter the Indian market have been ongoing for several years. However, in 2023 they became more specific and there is now hope that this could finally happen. According to an Indian media report on Thursday, negotiations are in their final stages. Elon Musk will reportedly announce the launch of Tesla India in January 2024 during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit in Gandhinagar.
