Tesla's history continues to evolve as new records are achieved. The company produced its 6 millionth vehicle and celebrated delivery achievements in several markets around the world. Welcome to our weekly round-up with Jowua.
New delivery milestones
Last week, Tesla announced it had reached two major milestones for its presence in select markets. According to the announcement, the company celebrated the delivery of its 100,000th vehicle in Australia. The most impressive of this is the fact that Tesla will deliver almost half of this amount in 2023 alone. This increase in deliveries was primarily due to Model Y, which captured the hearts of a huge number of Australians.
Another important milestone was the delivery of the 200,000th vehicle in the UK. This was also possible thanks to the growing popularity of Model Y. The SUV was the best-selling car there in 2022 and 2023. The wider availability of Model Y is made possible by the expansion of production at Giga Berlin, which now delivers cars throughout Europe and beyond.
Giga Berlin expansion receives support from the German Chancellor
Tesla has been working for months to expand its Brandenburg factory. Ultimately, the company aims to double production capacity to 1 million vehicles per year and produce its own battery cells locally. Recently, Giga Berlin's planned expansion received support from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who also condemned the recent terrorist attack on the factory.
Tesla produced its 6 millionth car
Late last week, Tesla announced it had reached an impressive milestone: producing its 6 millionth vehicle. This was achieved at its Fremont factory, according to a published video. The company produced its millionth car in March 2020, meaning it took 12 years to hit this milestone. However, Tesla then produced its next 5 million cars within just four years of that. At the moment, the rate of increasing production of each million cars has increased to six months. But with the continued growth of production capacity, the speed will also continue to grow.
Tesla named Austin's largest private employer
The increase in production also plays a direct role in increasing Tesla's influence on the regions in which it is located. Tesla is already the largest private employer in Brandenburg, where its Giga Berlin is located. Now, the company is billed as Austin's largest employer. According to documents, thanks to Giga Texas, the company had 22,777 employees in 2023, an increase of 86% compared to a year earlier.
