Tesla continues to make steady progress in fundamental development. The company is streamlining production with its Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology, beating its competitors in battery technology, creating eco-friendly projects, and more, in today's roundup with Jowua.

Tesla Is Using FSD Technology to Full Potential

As recently noted, Tesla Model Ys produced at Giga Texas are now autonomously driving from the production line to the logistics facility without the need for a human driver. This route is about two miles. Earlier in January, Tesla announced that its new cars are capable of autonomously driving a 1.2-mile route at its Fremont factory, California, from the end of the production line to the logistics facility. This indicates that the company is maximizing the benefits of its FSD technology, increasing the efficiency of its factories, and reducing its reliance on human drivers.

In addition, Tesla is set to launch a robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, by June 2025. The company’s cars will operate without a human driver. Last week, CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the company is still on track to launch the service in June.

4680 Battery Cell Production Reaches New Level

Tesla has reached a major milestone in the production of 4680 battery cells, noting that its Texas-based manufacturing team has scaled production to surpass the profitability of outside suppliers. In September 2024, Tesla officially surpassed the 100 million 4680 battery cell milestone and continues to ramp up production.

The company’s in-house 4680 battery cells have already earned their place as the cheapest battery cells produced per kWh. This achievement is especially significant because while most companies dedicate their entire operations to developing and manufacturing battery cells, Tesla has only one department dedicated to it.

Tesla Moves Forward With “Ecological Paradise” Plan Near Giga Texas

In 2020, Musk announced a plan for an Austin factory that would feature an “ecological paradise” around it. As reported a few days ago, Tesla submitted an official plan and renderings to Travis County’s economic development office. The proposal describes a sprawling riverfront park. Called the GFTX Riverfront Eco-Park, the project would include 25 miles of hiking trails and 18 miles of bike paths, intertwining the natural landscape with outdoor recreation opportunities. The park would feature a Tesla exhibit and a sports complex with soccer, baseball, basketball, and tennis courts.

Tesla’s plans call for 3.78 miles of direct access to the Colorado River and 290 acres of preserved riverfront green space. This makes the area accessible to both Giga Texas employees and the public. The company has committed to planting 3,000 trees annually and maintaining eight designated wildlife corridors.

Tesla Scores Partial Victory in Blade Runner 2049 Copyright Dispute

Tesla and Warner Bros. have won a partial legal victory in a lawsuit filed by Alcon Entertainment over the use of images reminiscent of scenes from Blade Runner 2049. According to the indictment, they were used during Tesla’s “We, Robot” event, where Cybercab was unveiled. A US federal judge has dismissed several of Alcon’s claims, including alleged trademark infringements. George Wu found that there was no likelihood of consumer confusion because Tesla and Alcon operate in completely different industries. At the same time, he allowed the underlying copyright infringement case to proceed.
