Tesla Energy Expands Presence in Texas
Tesla has expanded its presence in the Texas energy market by entering into a new partnership with Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC). This marks the first partnership between the company and a Texas utility in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) Aggregated Distributed Energy Resource (ADER) pilot program. Tesla and GVEC will work together to integrate Powerwall units into the ERCOT grid, which will allow the stored energy to be distributed during periods of peak demand. At the moment, Tesla has already registered about 17 megawatts of generating capacity in the ADER program through its network of Powerwall customers.
Tesla to Build 3rd Megafactory
Tesla will build its third energy storage Megafactory. The facility will be built in Waller County, in the Empire West Industrial Park in Brookshire, and will employ about 1,500 people.
Tesla Files California Permit to Launch Robotaxi Service
Tesla is looking to launch its robotaxi business in California, as evidenced by the filing of an application for a transportation charter-party carrier permit with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). The application includes information that the service will initially launch with human drivers before moving to an autonomous fleet. Tesla’s proposed model is for the company to own and operate the fleet.
Portugal’s Supercharger Network Expansion to Resume Soon
After years of regulatory hurdles and driver suffering in Portugal, Tesla’s charging network there will soon continue to grow. A new government decision will open up the electric vehicle charging market, removing barriers that have previously limited private companies, including Tesla, from freely expanding their charging infrastructure.
Tesla Begins US Deliveries of New Model Y
Days after starting deliveries of the new Model Y in China, Tesla has delivered the first cars in the US. One of the first known deliveries took place on Sunday, to a customer in Tennessee. This comes one week before special Model Y launch events are scheduled to take place at Giga Texas and Fremont.
Tesla May Be Updating Model S and Model X
Customers who ordered Model S and Model X in Europe are facing a significantly longer wait for their orders. Instead of the usual few weeks, Tesla has pushed back delivery dates by four to five months. This suggests that the company is preparing to launch updated vehicles. The delivery time changes currently affect the Long Range and Plaid variants. About a week ago, Tesla’s VP of Vehicle Engineering, Lars Moravy, hinted that updated Model S and Model X could arrive before the end of 2025.
