Tesla continues to grow, strengthening its position in various areas. The company improves its charging infrastructure, may receive support from the Trump administration, and more news in today's review with Jowua.
V4 Supercharger Cabinet with up to 500kW charging
Tesla has announced an update to the V4 Supercharger Cabinet, which will provide charging speeds of up to 500 kW for cars and up to 1.2 megawatts (MW) for Tesla Semi. One of the major changes is its ability to support a wide range of vehicle architectures, from 400 V to 1000 V. This means that the company's entire line of vehicles, as well as previously incompatible vehicles from other companies, will be able to charge on the Supercharger.
Each V4 Cabinet can power up to eight charging stations, double the number of previous versions. It features next-generation power electronics that have three times the power density of previous systems. This allows for faster, more reliable charging and lowers the overall cost of operation. Installation of the new cabinets is expected to begin in 2025.
Trump administration planning new federal framework for self-driving vehicles
According to a report, the administration of US President-elect Donald Trump plans to prioritize the creation of a federal framework for self-driving cars. This is expected to be a significant benefit for Tesla, which has been working on the technology for years. In October, the company unveiled its next-generation vehicles, Robotaxi and Cybervan. They have no traditional controls and are driven by the company's proprietary software, without the need for a human driver.
Tesla may be working on a vehicle for large families
In October, Tesla unveiled the Robovan, which can seat up to 20 people. However, it is still large even for big families. At the same time, the available Model X, Model S, and Model Y with optional extra seats are still small for families with more than seven people. That is why some consumers keep asking Tesla to introduce a large family car. In two recent X posts, Elon Musk hinted that the company might be developing such a vehicle.
"Tesla Robovan is in development. Some other things too," he wrote.
Giga Berlin protest camp disbanded permanently
A tree camp protesting Tesla's European factory expansion has finally been disbanded. It turns out that the protesters refused to temporarily leave the site so that a special team could inspect the area for World War II ammunition. Some even climbed trees and had to be removed by a special team. According to a police statement, the protesters violated public safety and the rules for holding public gatherings, which became the reason for permanent disbandment.
