Tesla is an innovator and pioneer in the field of electric vehicles, leading the way and advancing the field. The company is ramping up production of electric vehicles, expanding battery storage projects, and captivating millions of consumers with desirable products. Welcome to Jowua's weekly Tesla news roundup.

LG will begin production of 4680 battery cells for Tesla in August

In order to start producing more electric vehicles, Tesla needs to have more battery cells. The company's proprietary 4680 battery cell continues to improve and other manufacturers will soon begin producing them. LG Energy Solutions (LGES) President and CEO Kim Dong-myung said the company plans to begin production as early as August this year.

LGES will first begin production of battery cells at its Ochan plant in South Korea. Later, their mass production will be launched at a factory in Arizona, USA, which is currently under construction.

India finalizes plan to reduce import duties, facilitating Tesla's entry

Tesla is one step closer to launching in India. The country's government is close to finalizing a policy to extend preferential import duties on electric vehicles costing more than $36,000 for 2-3 years. Sources told The Economic Times that Tesla will likely be offered a reduction in import duties instead of bank guarantees for its proposed investment in building an electric vehicle factory in India.

Giga Mexico is close to starting construction

According to Nuevo León Governor Samuel Garcia, Tesla could begin construction of its factory in Mexico in March this year. He noted that he spoke with the company's management, and they told him that they are ready to lay the first stone. During his speech at the “From San Bernabé to Bernabeu 2024. World Challenge Madrid 2024” event at the Civic Center in the western region of Monterrey, the governor said that he received this information from Tesla management. It is worth noting that the company did not make a direct statement about the start date of construction, but simply did not say “no,” to the request to begin construction no later than March of this year.
