Tesla cars top UK sales in December
Tesla car sales figures have started trickling in from countries around the world. The UK figures show the company's cars were the country's best-selling cars in December 2024. According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Tesla Model Y took the top spot with 5,165 units, while Model 3 was second with 3,477 units. Tesla sold 32,862 Model Ys for the year, making it the country's fifth-best-selling car in 2024.
Tesla deployed 31.4 GWh of energy storage in 2024
The company celebrated another milestone in 2024. Last year, Tesla broke records again, deploying an unprecedented 31.4 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy storage. That is a significant increase from the 14.7 GWh of energy storage deployed in 2023. The jump was largely made possible by Tesla’s Megafactory in the US. With a second Megapack factory in China coming online, the company will be able to ramp up energy storage deployment even faster and strengthen its market position.
Tesla poised for €1 Billion windfall from EU’s emissions curbs
Tesla could receive more than €1 billion in compensation from rival automakers that need help this year to meet tougher pollution standards in the European Union, according to analysts at UBS Group AG. The company will pool the fleet of electric vehicles it sells this year with at least five other automakers, including Toyota, Stellantis, and Ford.
