Tesla Model 3 Wins Edmunds' Top-Rated EV
Tesla Model 3 has always been a good EV. But, a major refresh for 2024 brings great improvements including a longer range, better ride quality, sharper handling, and a nicer interior with professional build quality. Tesla has also been able to keep the price down, preserving the Model 3's status as one of the most affordable EVs around. All of this has earned the sedan the Edmunds Top Rated award in the Electric Car category.
"From range to price to performance, there are few areas where the Model 3 doesn't have a leg up on the competition," said Reese Counts, vehicle test editor.
Tesla App Update Hints at Cybertruck RWD and Tesla Diner UI
Over the weekend, Tesla released a new version of their mobile app on the iOS App Store, which contains a few interesting hints. First, the app revealed that the company is preparing to release a cheaper Cybertruck. The rear-wheel drive (RWD) version, which will also be eligible for the $7,500 tax credit, will have a few obvious differences that make it cheaper than the current All-Wheel Drive (AWD) version. Among them are the lack of an automatic tonneau cover and built-in AC outlets.
The update also reveals some information about the Tesla Diner, which is being built in Los Angeles. It has several UI references such as ‘DinerHomeScreen’, ‘profile_settings_diner_description’, and ‘View menu & amenities.’ This hints at the fact that car owners will be able to place food orders directly from their cars in advance or while charging their cars.
Tesla Is Working on a Cleaning Solution for Vehicle Cameras
Cameras are one of the most important components of Tesla cars, as they are relied upon for self-driving systems. Therefore, their cleanliness is a very important issue. Tesla confirmed that the team is working on a “comprehensive cleaning solution” for vehicle cameras, although it did not specify what it will be or when it will be implemented. At the moment, the company is launching the first camera washer for Cybertruck’s front camera. Perhaps the new solution that Tesla announced will be related to the method used in its electric pickup truck.
