Jowua welcomes you to our weekly roundup of news from the Tesla Universe. Model Y continues to lead global sales, the updated Model 3 wins the hearts of consumers, Cybertruck expands its influence in the automotive market, and more in today's update.

Model Y leads the US market

Tesla Model Y continues to expand its influence in the world. At the moment, sales data for all vehicles in the US is not yet available, so we'll have to wait to share where the electric SUV ranks in terms of sales. However, sales data for the electric vehicle sector is already available and we have a leader. As expected, Model Y became the best-selling electric vehicle in the US in 2023 with 394,497 units. Not surprisingly, its sibling, Model 3, came in second with 220,910 sales. Chevy Bolt EV/EUV took third place with a modest 62,045 units. Model Y sales accounted for 33.2 percent of all electric vehicles sold in the United States last year.

Tesla begins sales of upgraded Model 3 in North America

Sales of the updated Model 3 have finally launched in North America. The new product has been awaited here since the company introduced the updated car in September last year in China and Europe. The updated Model 3 has a number of improvements, in addition to an updated appearance, which has made it popular among consumers. Starting this week, the company's customers in the region can order the vehicle. This also confirms that production of the updated vehicle has already started at the Fremont factory in California, USA.

Tesla increases production of Cybertruck

Tesla is increasingly ramping up production of its pickup truck. Observers of Giga Texas' development progress are increasingly noticing semi-trucks transporting Cybertrucks that have rolled off the production line.

In a recently released video, Tesla highlighted some of the benefits of the pickup truck, which will further interest consumers. Cybertruck has a stainless steel exterior made from the alloy that SpaceX uses to make Starship. The pickup has 120V and 240V electrical outlets on board, dual displays inside the cabin, a hidden gear locker, towing capacity of up to 11,000 pounds, and an adjustable suspension system for increasing or decreasing ground clearance.

Cybertruck will join the Vegas Loop fleet

The Vegas Loop is a tunnel system under Las Vegas built by Elon Musk's The Boring Company. They are designed to reduce traffic congestion by transporting passengers in Tesla electric vehicles. Currently, about 100 Tesla vehicles transport passengers every day. The Vegas Loop fleet will be replenished with Cybertrucks in the future.

Steve Hill, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority confirmed to the Las Vegas Review Journal that customers will soon be able to ride in Cybertruck.

“They're going to use that truck in the system. It's fun, but we think it's got some real application. It’s a really useful vehicle, with the bed of a pickup truck being useful to move things around.”
