Tesla is moving at a fast pace, developing in various directions. The cars' software and equipment are being improved, Optimus will soon be tested in real work, and the company is expanding cooperations to accelerate the world's transition to renewable energy. Welcome to our weekly round-up with Jowua.

Tesla updates Safety Score

Tesla has made changes to its Safety Score. This week, the company released a new version, 2.1, which included changes to the night-time driving metrics used in the calculations. This tool is used as a safety assessment to determine how safe someone is driving.

One of the safety indicators was the calculation of the time a driver spends driving from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. However, this drew criticism as many drivers were behind the wheel during this period but did not want their safety record to be negatively impacted. In the new update, Tesla took this into account and reduced the period of time that is considered dangerous. Now, the company has moved the start time to 11 p.m.

Optimus may be ready for testing in factories

Tesla Bot is likely ready for testing at the company's Gigafactories, as evidenced by a new job posting. The company is looking for a Technical Program Manager. The person in this position will help develop a robot for pilot use in various manufacturing plants, as described on the website:

"They will work daily with design engineering, infrastructure, manufacturing, and operations teams to identify and execute pilot applications of humanoid robots in various manufacturing environments."

Cybertruck comes with wireless charging

Tesla continues to work on making the robotaxi fleet a reality. One of the important steps towards this is the ability of cars to charge themselves, without human intervention. Apparently, a solution has been found and Tesla created the wireless charging that enthusiasts and observers have been talking about for some time now.

Cybertruck is the company's first vehicle equipped with the ability to charge via inductive charging. Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen confirmed in an interview with Jay Leno that the company is "working on inductive charging." Last week, one of the Cybertruck owners noticed that his Cybertruck has inductive charger headers. Commenting on his post on X, Cybertruck Lead Engineer, Wes Morrill said that this information is already displayed in official documentation, so it is not a secret.

Model 3 Performance details leak

According to a recently published video, the long-awaited version of the updated Model 3 will have three acceleration modes: Chill, Sport, and the new Insane. Model 3 Performance will also have a Ride & Handling menu with two options: Standard and Sport. Adaptive dampening will be offered. Another interesting new feature is "Auto Shift between D/R." The new feature makes it possible to automatically shift between forward and reverse when not in Park.

Tesla expands cooperation with CATL

Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL) and Tesla are working on faster battery charging technology, as recently confirmed by founder and CEO, Robin Zeng. He said the companies are working together on new electrochemical structures that will enable faster charging. In addition, Zeng confirmed that CATL will supply battery production equipment to Tesla's Gigafactory in Nevada.
