Tesla is ready for the Robotaxi event, preparing Cybertruck to enter a wider market by deploying FSD, expanding the reach of Giga Shanghai and its Energy business, and more. Welcome to Jowua’s weekly roundup of news from the Tesla universe.

Tesla Begins FSD Deployment for Cybertruck

The company has finally begun the rollout of Full Self-Driving (FSD) for Cybertruck. Software update 2024.32.20 is the first version of FSD compatible with Cybertruck and the first version to include a full end-to-end neural network.

Cybertruck Undergoes Certification in South Korea

Tesla has begun sales and deliveries of Cybertruck in the US and Mexico and is awaiting approval in Canada. Now it has emerged that the company is awaiting approval for it in South Korea. According to a local publication, the electric pickup truck was sent to the Korea Transportation Safety Authority (KATRI) in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, for certification testing. The official noted that it was Tesla that sent them the Cybertruck, and not an individual, indicating a commitment to launch sales of the pickup truck in the country.

Giga Shanghai Celebrates Export of its Millionth Vehicle

Tesla’s China factory began operations in late 2019. However, exports to markets outside China began in 2021, gradually making it the company’s export hub. Since then, Giga Shanghai has already exported 1 million vehicles, marking a major milestone in its development.

Shanghai Megafactory Is 60% Complete

Tesla started construction of the Shanghai Megafactory just four months ago and already boasts that it is 60% complete. The current pace of construction suggests that the company is on track to begin Megapack production as early as the beginning of 2025. Once fully operational, the Shanghai Megafactory will be able to produce 40 gigawatt-hours of electricity per year, equivalent to a production volume of 10,000 Megapack units.

Tesla Sends Out Invitations for Robotaxi Event

Tesla has begun sending out invitations for its highly anticipated Robotaxi event on October 10. According to the invitations, the event is called “We, Robot.” It will be held in Los Angeles, though the exact location remains unknown. The event will begin at 5:00 PM PT, with the Robotaxi presentation starting at 7:00 PM PT.

Notably, all attendees must be 21 years of age or older. Additionally, seating is limited and tickets do not include a +1 guest, which has been Tesla’s usual practice at other events. Tickets are non-transferable.

Tesla Installs its 750,000th Powerwall

Tesla celebrated reaching another major milestone: installing 750,000 Powerwall units worldwide. The company delivered the product in 2015 and celebrated installing its 100,000th battery in 2020. Since then, the deployment rate has increased significantly and Tesla has installed another 650,000 units over the next four years, which is a truly impressive achievement.
